  1. Adam you are confusing freedoms with democracy. Whilst they regularly exist together aa a democracy can be authoritarian and a dictatorship can on occasion allow fairly high levels of freedoms ironically, Singapore is an example of this. Usually dictatorships aren't benign but sometimes they are. There are benign dictatorships in some US red states where the gerimandering is so bad it's virtually impossible for the Democrats to ever gain power.
