Well that's not really true. The US produces only about 4 agricultural products in excess, corn, soy, pork and chicken. Those products are cheap. Basically everything else is supplemented with imports. One clearly common misconception is that the US is a beef exporter when it's a net beef importer. It could go in 2 different directions for US beef producers, they make more because of higher prices or they make less because people with less money end up buying less beef and more chicken and pork.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. The US economy has gone from around 40% of the world's GDP 50 years ago to around 25% now. There's literally virtually nothing that any country needs from the US. It's historical relationships that help US companies maintain market share with their exporters. The US as a proportion of It's GDP is the third smallest trading nation in the world with only Sudan and Nigeria even less. So it's not clear outside of North America what effect Donald will have on the world. Seems to me the world excluding Canada and Mexico can now survive without the US without much consequence. Of course my assumption doesn't involve financial spill over effects to other markets like the GFC , in other words runs on banks and capital markets going international.
