  1. For Americans what is not typical is a Prime Minister announcing a resignation. Normally they don't see it coming and get kicked out , the process typically takes 2 hours or so when parliament is sitting and they can have a party room meeting. Unlike with a President in the US system removing a Prime Minister is an extremely simple process and doesn't indicate anything about wrongdoing, only that someone is considered better for the position.
