  1. Have to disagree strongly with that NBC guy. By itself GDP per capita is a terrible almost worthless measure of living standards. If you can't get healthcare or reasonable social security safety net for all many people's living standards are low. If we adjust for these items plus the wealth gap the US is probably at the bottom when it comes to living standards for the bottom half of the population.
