@loveisthemostpowerfulforce1397 Have you read your second comment back to yourself, you are saying 99.9% of the time the virus has mutated in the US that strain has survived. If you meant people clearly you are way out maybe 20% infected and already more than 0.1% of the population dead. South Dakota has about 45% rural population so not that dense and the city not a big city and they already get to 0.17% of their population dead, either they are killing the city populations at a massive rate or have actually worked out an effective method of spreading the virus in a rural population. Any bad actors will study this state to find out how it achieved such a result arguably the worst jurisdiction in the world, even worse than Florida because it has big cities.

No one really knows. If the vaccine does increase your immunity that's better for society but on a personal level I expect you would be at very low risk of serious health consequences if you did already get it and caught it again a year later. Nobody knows how long immunity will last and how effective immunity might be accross all strains from a previous infection or any of the vaccines. Personally the Pfizer and Moderna ones scare me a bit, I would prefer other ones that don't make my cells do things. They say it's safe and maybe it is, just giving my personal fear, I am in Australia so different position and I am against our authorities giving emergency use , I think better for us to keep doing what we are doing until normal approval is given or at least wait a few months, the vaccines going out in large numbers now is the real test and time.

@jameshaney171 it doesn't change the dna from my understanding but it somehow makes your own body cells produce virus proteins.

@loveisthemostpowerfulforce1397 Partial lockdowns only slow the spread from what it might otherwise be. However one particular US measure increases the spread and that is to lockdown businesses in high case areas to encourage customers who on average are more often infected to seek areas with low restrictions with businesses open, so one measure certainly helps the spread. Other jurisdictions believe it or not actually stop those in infected areas going to non infected areas, something a 10 year old could work out but there is bipartisan consensus in the US to not consider this theory used for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The US in some respects has reverted back to stone age behaviour, the rock used as the one and only took for everything is vaccines. A bit like a hammer is the only tool to fix everything if someone has no idea, just hit it with a hammer and sometimes it works, an engine might have an electrical connection loose but the reverberation of the hammer hitting some part could reconnect the loose connection allowing the engine to start. Maybe vaccines will work and actually maybe not if no other action is taken like now. Good luck with your expensive rock.

Ok 36% of American adults are obese, so more than every third person you see has an underlying condition with only one single measure. Are you suggesting those fat people should be left to die?

How about 12 weeks then it would be gone in most states. Other jurisdictions can do it.

@Al LivesMatter Masks are the last line of defense and help a little bit, it's hard lockdown measures that work, soft lockdowns do more damage to business and people's mental health because there is no end, you are still at day one when truly considering containment , so fair to say even the concept has been abandoned in the US. I truly hope vaccines work as well as hoped because not enough information that immunity will last long and or that they will cover the ongoing mutations. If one US state could break ranks and decide they don't want the virus and stop all arrivals from other states without 14 days hotel quarantine that the traveler pay for containment could theoretically work, easiest jurisdictions to do this because no cross border daily workers is Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. I feel for you in your situation because your response indicates you are not anti everything but very negative due to the situation and lack of any tough leaders around who could get the job done. Maybe Biden will surprise but his rhetoric so far is "just wear a mask" which simply isn't good enough and waiting to see if vaccines really work on all strains over the next year or so with current mitigation measures only and no plan B is high risk in my opinion. Best of luck and take care of yourself and those around you the best you can.
