@totheworkshed7915 The pandemic response plan was set up to have global monitoring and stockpiles of the necessary equipment by Bush and then continued under Obama. Trump is certainly an outlier even withdrawing from the WHO as a blame game move. While he does have a valid point the Chinese contribution was way too small , better to ask them to pay more and possibly reduce the US contribution to pressure China, not withdraw. So actually until Trump came along it was never a partisan thing. I am Australian and if you look at the differing responses by our states you will not be able to distinguish which side of politics is in charge because the responses overlap, it just came down to the individual governments decisions. It's sad to see what's happening in the US and if Trump literally did nothing and let those tasked with doing things actually do it, the outcome would probably be not as bad.
