There's no registration of guns in Texas so no problems, any willing seller can sell to any willing buyer, the gun doesn't even officially exist. Edit: just did a quick search, it's completely legal to sell a weapon in Texas to anyone without any paper work whatsoever and no records of the sale required to be kept. Supposed to sell it to over 18 years old Texas residents only however since no process exists as long as the buyer says they live in Texas and are over 18 the law would seem to be complied with. Some comments are strange, why would a felon purchasing a gun privately inform the seller they are a felon? Of course they won't and as it's a private sale the seller doesn't even have the capability to do a background check unless they make it not private and go through a gun shop.

@k333rl assuming you are in Texas how can the weapon be traced back to you as there's no registration? Is there actually registration but it's slightly hidden as in all transactions by gun dealers are registered including who they sell to.
