It's still very rare so I would not worry too much just if something was to happen tell the medical staff exactly what you just said here.

I like him because he's humble, occasionally he gets things wrong however he will later admit he was wrong. In some respects he tried to look at too much at once and too quickly, doesn't apply so much now because he is quite knowledgeable of different approaches in the world and the different outcomes. Best of luck for you in Ireland.

A little jealous, I am 47 so a long wait. Admittedly I want it for travel. Good to hear though because best all or near all border, hospital and nursing home workers get it first because that's the main problem areas.

You must be in NSW or VIC, other states had exactly the same policy as NZ the whole time. I am in Queensland and it's true the language was a little less direct but the policy was certainly the same.

@tillykelp9744 Victoria and NSW both agreed with the federal government on open borders and opening up more quickly compared to Queensland. To be fair the quicker opening up in both states actually didn't cause the problem, other than some nursing home in NSW but it just indicates level of caution. Both Premiers had some well chosen words along with the PM about our Premier. For about 6 months the open the border pressure applied to QLD was relentless, it only stopped when Clive Palmer lost his high court case about gaining entry to WA. Victoria only had one big failure and that was contact tracing and being slow to lockdown when the problem was growing, NSW kept having quarantine breeches but somehow got away with it for the most part and had excellent contact tracing. I am not really critical of any of our leaders, combined including the federal government who obviously agreed to the Western Pacific WHO region approach with quarantine at the border. We are all doing well now , that is every state and our country region as a whole. Any election in Australia over the next year at least the incumbent government will win because overall even if not perfect people are happy with the results. One thing I give a lot of credit to Dan Andrews is going in front of the cameras every single day during the second very tough lockdown and reading out the case and death numbers, very few leaders in the world did anything like that.

My impression is the Indian government isn't asking for help at all other than with vaccines. The only country capable of helping India in other ways would be China and can't see them asking.

Just a guess, it could be to do with the risk of the vaccine or other injection going into a vein or artery and causing a real problem versus time taken as in truly mass vaccinations it's best just do it fast and also taking time with children they might be more likely to pull away or flinch. I guess you will find out when you look into it.

That doesn't sound likely and did they break it down estimated extra deaths by cause of death, this is significant. In Australia more people were killed by our lockdown initially than ever died of the virus, when the US reached 200,000 deaths from covid 19 there was 300,000 excess deaths so 100,000 was due to lockdown and possibly lack of other medical care. The last 2 points could be far greater in India because demographics are very different , people are a lot poorer and the healthcare system is not as high as standard as the US.

It surprises me after all this time people congratulating Canada and UK for letting the Indian variant in and spread and now close the border on India but cases are all over the world, travellers aren't even banned from the US, yet the US has 100% voluntary quarantine so every variant is there because no border is shut, not one, just keeping foreigner out , US citizens if they can get a flight can go to India tomorrow and return next week and quarantine voluntarily if they want to.

You need to ban all of EU and North America too because it's already in those places, the UK detected cases from February 22 and Canada's detected 39 cases, so too late. Either shut the border to everyone or no one the results the same, half of all outbreaks from Quarantine in Australia and New Zealand were the B117 or UK variant and cases came from everywhere.
