You break restrictions or enter Queensland Australia with a false declaration you go to the slammer for a bit. Good old fashioned enforcement works. The people who break the rules here receive no pity, in fact the opposite people want them to get maximum sentence because they cause or potentially cause lockdowns.

The signatories to that are nuts, no jurisdiction on the planet has had high cases while protecting all vulnerable and keeping everything largely open, it's impossible basically. Protecting the vulnerable means nursing homes become old persons prisons indefinitely while the virus is rampant with no chance of visitors.

I agree with your general premiss but not sure about the very last statement.

I think without their world leader (Donald Trump) it wouldn't have happened because the conspiracies wouldn't have gained traction.

The second a political leader or political party becomes arrogant and populist the game is over. The best approach has been if politicians keep people in a realistic level of fear and then they will overwhelmingly comply with directions and enforcement is possible if required. Take care of yourself and your family and friends the best you can. It's unfortunate you are in many ways like certain areas of the US or other Americas countries and to a lesser extent other European countries.

It can't be worse than the US president running around holding covid 19 spreader events

@iwonalenik2547 If you're not making things up the test is now in reality to find out who doesn't have the virus yet because over 50% are positive.

@bratwurst_addict I think you could be right, it's unknown how likely someone can be reinfected and therefore a carrier, if that number is high all those jurisdictions with high case numbers are in exactly the same position previously because it can spread to the vulnerable almost as easy as before noting competing forces of restriction fatigue and better healthcare practices.

@lynndonharnell422 if you followed it Victoria was the most aggressive keep borders open and voluntary compliance state of all until sh*t hit the fan. So called Chairman Dan could have passed for any US state governor until he got his act together. Dan Andrews however did do the right thing and corrected the problem and of course he is under extreme stress because he does actually care that's why he forces himself to have a press conference 100+ days running and it has worked, the majority of the Victorian population have brought Victoria back from a very dark heading. I am from Queensland a hard line state that was often pressured ( previously Dan Andrews was our biggest critic along with the Federal government).

@abendstern782 very good reference actually, I am a smoker and it's true if smoke can reach you then a virus can.

@Nicole D.I am just going off evidence which is in wealthy countries about 50% of covid 19 deaths are in nursing homes and nowhere has been able to stop this without complete lockdown of nursing homes. The infection rates in some countries mean you don't have enough staff because the proper way to do it is if one staff member tests positive the entire staff need to quarantine for 2 weeks and be replaced at a moment's notice as practiced in Australia , same applies to hospitals , just recently in my state a staff member tested positive and all 181 staff replaced for 2 weeks. When you realise all the difficulties by observing a country getting it right like my own country you realise that our procedures can't be replicated in a high infection country. Hopefully an effective vaccine is available widely by middle to late next year but no phase 3 trial has been completed , so we don't know yet, we can only hope.

@purebloodbabyfuhrer785 Hang in there mate, freedom awaits you but to blunder now means no chance of freedom before an effective vaccine that might not come. You are in the same position Auckland was in when they locked down last time, probably things are ok but need to make sure. Rest of Victoria is as free as anywhere in the world whenever the next already announced restrictions relaxation comes into effect.
1
@Hito343 the irony of Peter's comment, probably he in lockdown somewhere and the hard lockdown countries/ jurisdictions all have much more freedom now because very low or virus free.

One family had cases which escaped quarantine in Victoria Australia and contact tracing failed , due to genomic testing about 95% of the Victorian second outbreak came from this single event which amounts to about 15,000 cases. If you don't eradicate it after 3 months or so 1 case will be many thousands of cases and that's with restrictions, left to run wild maybe hundreds of thousands as we saw in March /April around the world.

Bring in some Australian state Premiers, they'd get the job done.
