Interesting I just looked up Queensland data and it says 0.1 times the 5 year average year to date for hospitalisations. So it would seem the Victorian restrictions had a much greater effect. Just stop that other virus now, very close and I think it will be achieved.

I think everyone has had some type of flu but maybe mild in most cases and everyone would have some immunity I would think. If you are in a high risk area getting the flu shot will lower your risk of having both the flu and covid at the same time.

You will have to become a highly compliant population to be like Japan, the voluntary lockdown in Japan was very significant. The other point is they got there cases to a low number versus the population size so contact tracing works. They are the only country that has been successful without mass testing so far, they relied more heavily on contact tracing. All countries that have succeeded have 14 days quarantine to enter so is your country willing to do that and are case numbers low enough to reduce restrictions? My guess is no so look at Sweden as a more realistic approach but need heavier restrictions if cases are high.

I think what you have explained about the higher risk with covid 19 plus flu versus covid 19 alone explains more about the decreasing death rate than the better care. But it also works the opposite direction, anything that is done to mitigate or not mitigate will be exponential in results in both a downward and upward direction.

My gosh , I hope the Queensland government is aware of this since the border now open apparently, as long as you fly over NSW.

I tend to agree and add to that the major interstate travel restrictions which are still very significant.
