Here in Queensland it's hard to comprehend the the failures of New Zealand, a population of 5,000,000 like NZ but only about 450 cases of internal transmission versus whatever ridiculous number occured in NZ. Taiwan only had half the number of imported cases compared to Queensland or New Zealand so not a fair comparison. Deaths in Queensland the lowest at 6 deaths. We can argue all day who is the best but how about a truce and accept done good is done good, even Victoria that by Western Pacific standards hasn't done so well has done extremely well by world standards and a month or 2 ago had more daily cases than Canada but look now. Western Pacific is just the best part of the world we shouldn't argue amongst ourselves who is superior and acknowledge we aren't perfect either.

@KiwiGirl1111 for sure, it might be a small step but Australia and New Zealand open to each other will boost moral which I think is important.

@aylbdrmadison1051 Hey I am guessing you are from the US and in some states or with some people not wearing a mask has been a signal of protest against the state government and a show of support for Trump. Trump is not a conservative first of all and outside of the US or at least in Australia the health response to the virus has not been political at all as in side of politics other than minor disagreements about restrictions. I would consider myself conservative and if it was a requirement in my state of Queensland to wear a mask I would. I was ill many months ago most likely with covid19 and the federal government said if you are sick wear a mask and I did along with making sure I spend minimal time buying groceries so that whatever I had was not infecting others. At the time to get a test was virtually if you aren't a healthcare worker or about to die of something then no test and I didn't think I had that particular virus but in retrospect looking at my symptoms I almost definitely did. Ok back to the main point it's not about political beliefs left versus right and from other comments I see you make i know you are definitely going through a hard time and are a bit angry. Hang in there and stay safe and if you want to be angry consider who to be angry with. Take care and I think you will be ok.

@stevepirie8130 While I agree a land border makes it more difficult where people travel either side of that border for daily activities it's not impossible and it could have been shut to people for a while until something was worked out. This is what every Australian state did, with border zones and permits to cross the border. Trade remains the same just need many precautions. With every Australian state and New Zealand internal travel restrictions were a part of lockdown with NZ and at least 2 Australian states having police checkpoints to stop people travelling unless for essential purposes. The lockdowns and quarantine restrictions are nothing like most of Europe so you might find it difficult to relate. Now a common method at least in 2 states but I suspect every state to detect any outbreak sewerage is being tested, it has picked up cases in some locations prior to anyone testing positive in the area. I think all of Australia plus New Zealand will be covid 19 free by the start of next year if things go well, but have to wait and see, if you look at South Korea and Japan they keep having problems too.

I'll be honest I am Australian and the comments that some who have been hospitalized for covid have survived but ended up with a $70,000 USD debt I am highly sceptical of. This scenario is impossible in Australia and that is why I am highly sceptical. So do you believe those comments?
