They are future lawyers, their job will be in the future to prove why a particular law or rule didn't need to be followed.

@taffshep1 No that was other states plus Northern Territory other than essential goods and transport of course. Western Australia had several intrastate checkpoints in the beginning to ensure people don't travel around their state. There is very good reason however because if covid 19 got into any remote community and the capital of any of the large area states had a problem then they are dead simple as that. If a reasonable hospital might be 1000km or 650 miles away really what can be done if problems everywhere.

@michaelwilliams3861 maybe UK plus Republic of Ireland and throw in France for land area and maybe 2,600,000 people. Area doesn't matter though because mostly they live in Perth , not scattered throughout the desert.

@PonderingLifeToo you have to think of the different Australia states as different countries if you are from Europe or North American. From a technical but not logistical point of view travelling to London or Western Australia is very similar, not sure which would be easier. I would need lease on my proposed accommodation in either case to get either entry permit to Western Australia or travel permit to leave Australia. We are like a communist country, we need a permit to leave. An illegal immigrant from Victoria that snuck into Western Australia got 6 months prison. Western Australia might have only minor internal restrictions but try getting in or out if you are not transporting goods or for work.

LOL I am from the Eastern province of North Korea Queensland, good to hear our strict Western province is fine. How are your covid restriction violator convicts?, we only have one in our province and I guess near end or finished term. Truth is majority of our populations feel sorry for Victorians who have less problems than most of US and UK.

@taffshep1 I am not in Western Australia but know the rules so to speak. I don't know exactly but with transportation of goods the companies doing that would have rules. To get to Western Australia from Victoria have to pass through another state which has none or next to no cases. Some is luck though because quarantine breaches did occur in Western Australia but people not infected. I just looked at the West Australian government website and seems they have no intention of opening border any time soon. Maybe when all the rest of Australia 0 cases they will.

@taffshep1 You have been watching Fox News or CNN too much and assuming you are from the UK you are peaceful like us and don't forget it. If you are American just stay away from big cities if you can.

@michaelwilliams3861 Don't complain about it. That's good for now then.

@helloitsme1158 You can go to Tasmania freely now and we coming into summer so not just cold and wet. If you live in certain areas you can come to some areas of QLD. It works both ways though. As a Queenslander it looks like South Australia plus Tasmania and Northern Territory are our travel bubble without the costly and annoying hotel quarantine. So 3 states plus a territory have open borders lol. I wish New South Wales well in joining the free states soon. Victoria and Western Australia are going to be hard for different reasons.

Hope not for you

@eileens4943 cdc and who should be fairly aligned. Where do you think WHO gets it's info from? Every national health data collection agency along with policy discussions and medical advances or studies.

We are all a law unto ourselves unless it's an international issue and the permanent members of the security council are literally a law unto themselves however somehow it's sort of worked or at least not gone really bad.

@taffshep1 Reports but only Anecdotal I think are flu is dramatically reduced. Peak is normally right now for Australia, the start of spring. With the UK or US it's clear containment will not happen, just copy Sweden and be done with it. The restrictions in Australia are less than Sweden other than travel and Victoria . Don't expect as good results as Sweden though because population is less healthy. The English speaking world is fatter than other major countries so more underlying health problems.

Blue Butterfly you are just wrong about a few things, quarantine zones even for humans have been found to be constitutional by the high court challenge Clive Palmer versus the state of Western Australia. The only real challenge was the action reasonable under such circumstances. Victoria and New South Wales had an open border policy so a different approach in the beginning. Victoria also had extremely small fines by national standards until lockdown mark II. Victoria opened up a little more quickly than QLD which moved mainly because NSW did. The quarantine breach was not the primary cause of things getting out of control in Victoria, in fact the worst quarantine failure was in NSW with the cruise ship. Victoria's main failure was to contain the outbreak. Queensland had and equally bad quarantine failure to VIC with those girls that decided to go to VIC then sneak back in via NSW by lying about where they had been( court case slated for Monday 28 Sep with a maximum penalty of 5 years if found guilty). That quarantine breach only spread to 50 people or so. The single quarantine breach in Victoria caused 95% of the cases for the " second wave" and they know . If you are Victorian hang in there and do the right thing, a so far worst case scenario would be continous lockdown measures much worse than any state in Australia other than travel restrictions and 10,000 dead Victorians. This is approximately the New York situation adjusting for population of Victoria. The inconveniences which I acknowledge are major in Victoria is better than continuous lockdown lite and 1,000s of dead people in my opinion.

Blue Butterfly I am in Queensland and you can have ago at my premier if you want. Unless something major happens in the upcoming state election it will be the first time for me to put Labor above LNP. The Queensland government has so far shown themselves to be highly effective in dealing with the health response to covid 19 and actually in the middle ground of travel restrictions. We have free travel in both directions to SA , NT and Tassie. With NSW it's not perfect but I support the border communities agreement with NSW. Personally I don't agree with the WA approach because a little too tough but it's the right of that state. You say that the high court of Australia doesn't understand the constitution or do you suggest they are corrupt for agreeing the quarantine measures by WA are in fact legal?
