The 10 days was adopted in part in the US because the "quarantine" is/was voluntary, so the thinking was there would be higher voluntary compliance. It was never intended to stop the virus just slow it down a bit.

It's urbanization rates that matter , however as we have seen in the US even states that are about 50% rural it might slow the spread but if you do nothing at all those states such as South Dakota and Mississippi end up just as bad eventually. The other thing that matters is demographics, I think age is actually secondary to socio economic groupings, poor and especially recent immigrants live on top of each other with housing, wealthy people have their own stand alone residence or a large condominium with few people in it and tend to be more health conscious.

@ericsutton9853 China and Papua New Guinea go to 21 days mandatory enforced hotel quarantine now, but still going to have problems of spreading while in quarantine except maybe the purpose built quarantine facilities in China.

YoutubeInsistInBanningPeople You don't get out of quarantine until proven virus free because it's quarantine, yes some can end up much longer, 14 days is only if no infection. In my state Queensland everyone infected goes into hospital to finish quarantine regardless how sick, in New South Wales I think especially now because cases too high they hire out a whole hotel or motel to put all the infected people who aren't that sick and can't isolate alone as in have family living with them, like a modern day leper colony.

@Sure sure that's for border quarantine, nobody forced to travel so not rounding them up as such, however do put positive cases into hospitals sometimes for quarantine, I know my state does that but this depends on very low numbers and they aren't forced, not sure how they encourage them.

YoutubeInsistInBanningPeople no 14 days mandatory enforced quarantine is to stop it. If it's voluntary it's not quarantine by definition and your government lied to you by pretending they were doing something that they weren't doing. Words matter actually.

@Jakilyn well you recovered that's the main thing , inconsistent rules exist everywhere that often make little sense.

The US media is blaming all the spread on unvaccinated people which simply isn't true which is unfortunate because then people don't trust the media and the US continues in it's cycle of distrust which has many negative impacts.
