  2. They shut down non urgent medical care because people were getting covid 19 in hospital and it was killing them. Unfortunately tens of thousands in the US died because of this. We will never know the number in the US because as a matter of policy such investigations were never carried out to even get a rough idea. We can however look at the statistics in nursing homes which is essentially the same thing.

  3. In wealthy countries the data is quite extensive and you can work out each particular cause and how it relates to covid 19 or the response to it. In Australia the initial lockdown caused a small spike in deaths due to mostly issues relating to diabetes and certain heart issues. But because the lockdowns in Australia weren't actually that long in duration overall and there was always light at the end of the tunnel excess deaths overall decreased in part from less respiratory infections. Duration of lockdowns and lack of actual planning showed that lockdown lite was actually more harmful in most cases, Sweden with it's lockdown lite was an exception to the rule because at least it was predictable, basically they put a setting and left it about the same for a very long time. The critics of lockdowns tend to live in jurisdictions that had lockdown lite for long durations and achieved poor outcomes in every sense, US stands out in this regard, drug overdoses and homicides even have shot up.
