I read a statistic that indigenous children at age 5 have one of the highest vaccination rates in the world at 96.9% , so while there are still issues and lower life expectancy in that group we are trying. The overall national rate at that age is 94.8% .

I agree, it's best for the government leader to take it on the first day. Australia will have less problems with vaccine hesitancy because not rushed so much.

Vaccines don't eliminate the possibility of a hotel quarantine worker getting the virus but substantially reduce the risk. So can't say it won't happen again.

If you are talking about international then it won't be as you envisage until entire population is vaccinated, and still have to wait and see if any variant/s gets around the vaccines. High case countries that have kept their border open almost the entire time will reopen regardless of the risks and accept those green passports between each other and low case countries might accept them between each other. Time will tell and getting entire populations vaccinated will take until towards the end of the year in most cases.

Well 100 years ago we didn't have antibiotics and virus vaccines were very rare. The life expectancy was about 40 then.

@joelunchbucket6000 during the Spanish flu life expectancy was around that number, of course WWI would have had an effect around that time and life expectancy was greatly affected by infant mortality, so if you make it to 15 or something your life expectancy was probably higher than 40. But the reason for the infant mortality would mostly be bacterial infections I am guessing. Most people who died from the Spanish flu actually died from bacterial pneumonia. Without modern medicine covid 19 would have killed as many as the Spanish flu in percentage terms through secondary infections like then. Have to remember no running water for most and no treated water.

@joelunchbucket6000 use of vaccines and antibiotics will never work 100% and moreso with antibiotics there is issues in 3 areas agricultural use of antibiotics, not taking a full course of antibiotics and in some places using them too often, as in rather than a doctor saying go home and rest and if whatever the issue is gets worse we will put you on a course of antibiotics they hand them out like lollies. Politics and culture in including people's propensity to sue seems to have led to over medication and too much testing in the US and no better outcomes than other developed countries just higher costs. The higher costs over there aren't only what I just said but it plays a part. I think one thing you might be hinting at is could a virus or bacteria start killing people like they did before modern medicine and I would suggest not because with the modern testing technology we can actually get rid of diseases by non pharmaceutical means, however not all countries would have the capability and like we see with covid 19 seemingly small errors at the time grow exponentially. I do think significant risk that covid 19 mutates somewhere like the US and gets around vaccines because all eggs in that one basket and for all intensive purposes only minor mitigation measures designed to slow spread down , not stop it other than by use of vaccines.
