@pakde8002 Not really, the same way New Zealand or South Korea or Taiwan or most states in Australia have done it. But the initial Wuhan lockdown was nothing like anywhere else in the world. Catch it before it gets out of control keep vigilant and cross your fingers but outbreaks are expected to keep occurring unless you shut borders tighter than North Korea.

@deniseg-hill1730 I haven't heard the comment yet in the video but what you describe is normal. No truly rural area has town water anywhere in the world. You must either drill a bore or a rain water tank. If a town centre has 2,000 people or so then it should have town water.

@passiflora1014 No you are wrong, all countries are reporting cases that are official and involved a test, earlier on some cases were reported as probable. All countries are reporting the death tolls the best they can but once you have hospitals reaching capacity in hard hit areas testing dead people for the virus is not going to be an urgent concern so cases will be missed. The numbers of reported deaths in countries like Australia, New Zealand , Vietnam and others with low numbers will be highly accurate, but still likely not 100% accurate, maybe 98% or so. If one old person catches in an outbreak area then travels back to their home town and dies and that's not an area of infection it probably won't get picked up especially if that person lives alone because no reason to think they died of it.

@passiflora1014 With this virus I think it's evident that either you get it when active cases are less than 1000 give or take otherwise it's out of control and Vietnam would not have high cases otherwise it would look like Brazil and it doesn't. I don't know what country you are from but containment can work. Your country most likely never even attempted it going by your comments and you don't comprehend how other countries can do it. Pick your country or form of government, it makes no difference. Australia is a democracy and so is South Korea and Vietnam isn't but we all took the same actions, in particular stopping it early. One jurisdiction in Australia it's true has backslid but all other Australian jurisdictions (states) seem to be doing ok with less than Swedish restrictions other than travel as I am guessing is the case in Vietnam outside of the outbreak area.

@passiflora1014 I didn't think the game was real and people just started saying Plague Inc. So there you go you broadened my knowledge. Those comments I thought were made up weren't and such a game does seem to exist.

One thing that's going to happen is the life expectancy will likely increase during this time in countries that had a containment, not mitigation strategy, because the actions taken will reduce the rate some other causes of death which will likely be in excess of deaths that might go up because of those same actions.

@OlJackBurton Probably same to New Zealand, it only takes one case to enter the population. Victoria Australia's 90% of current cases come from a hotel quarantine breach, which was picked up slowly and acted upon slowly. Victoria is a good case study in how quickly you can lose control and how much harder it is if you don't act quickly.

@ruthmaloney4378 By the time you return to Melbourne it should be fine. They appear to be getting it under control now, it's just a lot harder than it would have been if they had acted a week or two earlier. Pretty sure after this experience Victoria is unlikely to repeat the error. It's also helped other states and NZ not become complacent, it's one thing to see what is occurring in far away lands of the US and Europe, it's another thing when it's your neighbour.

@ruthmaloney4378 You take care. Severe border restrictions is the price that has to be paid for now with countries with a containment policy. I still think we are on the right track though for the time being, those places that have allowed the virus to get out of control haven't done any better economically as of now.
