  1. The US is more like Europe in its entirety, John put many of the worst performing European countries. The US has some states where the state government is doing nothing and letting the virus run out of control and others that have kept doing something since day 1. So the US is probably very much the same as Europe and same open border policy with no enforced quarantine in most if not all European countries.

  2. You have come to that conclusion that lockdowns don't work based on never seeing one occur. If it's not done properly and comprehensively it will never work as you want it to. A mitigation lockdown not designed to get rid of the virus but not overflow hospitals is pointless is the conclusion I have come to. I am living in Queensland Australia a virus free state with almost no restrictions except travel restrictions if coming from an infected country or state 14 days mandatory enforced quarantine.

  3. I would think it will be exponential as the BMI gets higher because pumping blood around and breathing will get increasingly harder. I am sure you would have found your weight loss already makes it much easier for example to walk up a flight of stairs. Anyway keep at the weight loss thing and try to never go backwards.   4. While masks might help and to an extent are an indicator of preparadness they are a final defence only in this case. Lockdown as required get numbers low enough testing and contact tracing and all people entering country 14 days mandatory enforced quarantine. Masks can reduce hard lockdown time most likely. That's the simple formula whether it's Australia or New Zealand or China or South Korea. Europe in general and the Americas haven't tried this method yet and would prefer mitigation only, in and out of restrictions just don't overflow hospitals. Now for many countries elimination without a vaccine plus lockdown is probably impossible.

  6. Why put engine oil in a car if it runs on diesel? Answer that and you should be able to answer your own questions. The virus is being isolated all the time , that's how you can do genomic testing to find out about the strains.
