@carletouk Be careful what you wish for and have a look at directly elected presidents. Although I actually voted for Australia to be a Republic in 1997 I think it was , (the model was to just change the name of the governor general position and remove the monarchy) I would even be cautious doing that now and if anywhere on the ballot it mentioned direct election and or a change of government operation I would vote no. So I guess I am a soft monarchist now.
