The problem in the US is the capacity to deal with large numbers of hospital cases has actually reduced and healthcare in general is more stretched than at the beginning of the pandemic in part from people quiting. Moral is extremely low by all accounts and that's not good.

@dreamweaver1603 Well there's been 10s of thousands killed in the US because they caught covid 19 in hospital. To give an example some old dear trips over and breaks her arm, guess what she's gonna go to hospital, then she being old and vulnerable catches covid 19 and comes out in a body bag. Regular testing plus being vaccinated is the only real way to reduce risk to patients unless full PPE for all hospital workers whether they be at reception or a janitor. No point keeping staff on that are a higher risk to the patients in many cases than the reason they came to hospital, of course nursing homes same applies.

@bobbyosborne2375 I am confused by your comment, one of the lowest deaths , in fact the lowest up to now of a jurisdiction outside of China with 1 million plus population on a per capita basis and only 14 weeks lockdown give or take since beginning of pandemic, therefore lowest restrictions on the planet except for travel which is now relaxing. Please explain your assertion.

@denisepappas4644 the other costs are less homicides, less suicides, increased trade surplus, less government deficit. Better societal cohesion. What is the problem, please be explicit? Compared to for example UK and US.

@denisepappas4644 Well that's great that Japan hasn't required any mandate, Australia is not Japan. They don't have antivaxxers running rampant clearly because they have achieved a high vaccination rate and Australia has too actually amongst those not affected by any mandate. This indicates to me you are scared of the vaccine, so why didn't you say so in the first place instead of skirting around the issue.

@grahamstull2330 Well no that's incorrect, basically all Western Pacific WHO region countries have been able to keep the virus out of hospitals for the most part and nursing homes to a large extent but not all, it's true with Omicron that might change we will have to wait and see.
