@markm4623 Mark the problem with you is you are desensitized, you accept a low standard for your country. You don't care BLM burning cities last year and the insurrectionists on Jan 6, you don't care the homicide rate is about 5 times the rate of any other wealthy country, you don't care the life expectancy in the US is now lower than China, you don't care your public healthcare system is more expensive per Capita or as a proportion of GDP than Australia or New Zealand , so you even happy to pay extra tax. Best of luck to you seems you are happy with your society and don't really care as long as you perceive you are personally safe. A compassionate person would say I hope NZ can get through this , I know the vaccination rate is less than anywhere in the US so it's going to be tough. Anyway you are happy and Australian and New Zealander are for the most part happy with our approach so we are all happy right.

It's not the number of cases that matter primarily it's "the story behind them" as I have seen a couple of state governments repeating many times. If the full 82 were in the community during the infectious period you have an absolute disaster about to happen but if only 10 were infectious in the community and the rest were quarantined already so household and work contacts things aren't too bad. I have been watching Victoria which has similar new case numbers and they seem to have about half of new cases were in the community while infectious so not looking the best. I hope in NZ that number is low and Auckland can contain it, the rest of NZ should be fine.
