That surprises me , are you sure not the other way around from Melbourne Victoria to Perth Western Australia?

@betsyslaughter76 That makes more sense, it's probably under a business safe covid plan which is already in place and the company whoever they are just keep it like that so if anything changes it doesn't cause disruptions. If for arguments sake someone on the plane had covid 19 and it was discovered a week later then they would need to start a 14 day quarantine at that point in time, also it means the border won't shut on them because it's already operating under an approved plan. If 5 cases were discovered in Perth tomorrow the border would shut immediately to most states to anyone coming from Perth without hotel quarantine or possibly hard shut and they have great difficulties entering if not deemed essential.

@seaneendelong8065 That's not what the CDC says, excess deaths from January 26 to October 3 were 300,000 , so unless nobody died after that pretty difficult to have 1,000 less deaths per day. Pretty sure Americans are still dying of covid 19 and other causes, flu deaths will be down however because less flu around.

Only one city Adelaide has active cases other than those from international arrivals, all other states and territories no cases in excess of 14 days, some virus being detected in a couple of sewerage samples in Victoria, on high alert but it doesn't indicate any active cases because people shed the virus after the virus is inactive. Travel restrictions and probably significant internal restrictions in Adelaide South Australia. When case was detected Adelaide went into an immediate 6 day lockdown to establish the possible spread, seems not wide spread but need to keep testing etc. to get every case. All borders shut to South Australia within 24 hours of detected cases. This is how it works in Australia, immediate significant actions , no state Premier wants to be the state with borders shut on them for any length of time.

No we're fine, we are battle hardened and any quarantine breech is jumped on like the Adelaide cases.

The statement from the University of Queensland guy was a super diplomatic one, I can assure you the terminology used in the lunch room or whatever would be a little different.

Is it hotel quarantine or self quarantine?

That's annoying no matter which way the wind blows you have some risk, hope there is significant spacing between you and them.

Deaths will likely be 2,500 plus per day by then and hospitals and hospital staff in an even worse situation. Hard to say this but hopefully you reach rock bottom before Christmas and common sense prevails.
