  1. Try reverse psychology on them, they might slip up. Tell them about Australia and New Zealand and how it's all opened up now. They will most likely say but they are islands etc. etc. If they do this then they have just acknowledged the virus. Explain to them the enforcement and rules in Australia and NZ was strict , nothing about being islands otherwise Puerto Rico and Hawaii shouldn't have cases. You want to have a conversation and just discuss the matter, don't tell them what they should do because they will resist, just present evidence in a way that allows them to criticize, ignore the I am American and we can't do it because xyz.

  3. In 50 years time it will be in US history books about a mini dark ages event in 2020/2021 where people abandoned science and reality causing an intentional peacetime calamity killing off significant numbers of the elderly.

  4. I don't think it's a big problem until you consider transporting it internationally but it will certainly drive up distribution costs very significantly. Making refrigeration units capable of producing dry ice isn't difficult but probably costly in the scheme of things if they have no use after the vaccine distribution ends.

You could have done exactly the same thing as Australia and the vast majority of the country would have had no more than 4 weeks lockdown, all the lower population more rural states could have kept it out pretty easily because they had an extra month or so to get it right and it spreads much slower in such settings. What happened in February was a sign of things to come, the US tested 500 people as apposed to Australia about 10,000 tests. The past can't be changed , let's hope the US gets it's act together and goes for elimination when the vaccines are widely available.
