  1.  @anfieldreds_1892  You are simply wrong, Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland and New Zealand all have managed to either keep the virus out or in the case of Queensland and New Zealand manage any outbreaks successfully. New South Wales I believe might have achieved that goal too. Victoria as long as open carefully should join the rest of us soon. So with a combined 30,000,000 population of Australia plus New Zealand it can be done.

  2.  @bootburner4544  you are being ridiculous, no other Australian state has had to lock down again. Victoria needs to be sure there isn't 100 cases out there that they don't know about otherwise it's all for nothing, the rest of Victoria outside of Melbourne isn't in lockdown as of tomorrow or something.

  3.  @anfieldreds_1892  if the Western Pacific countries did the Swedish way there would be approximately 2,000,000 deaths in our region spanning from East Asia plus ASEAN plus Australasia. You have to remember secondary deaths also and that lockdowns would occur when hospitals overflow because people demand it. In other words it's not going to happen and even a partially effective vaccine will give the population the same level of protection as has occurred in places with many deaths and still counting and back into lockdown in most cases once hospitals can't cope like many European countries and US soon I expect.

  4. If your government leader ( assuming it's the president) gets infected it's an ominous sign, others infected include government leaders of Brazil, UK and US , not known for the best response.

  5.  @dntodo6749  Morrison is in no way a Trump wannabe. The contrast in approach by Australia versus the US couldn't be more stark. The pressure he puts on the states to open up and the states in reverse pushing back has been extremely successful. He hasn't rubbished the state Premiers but would prefer a different internal approach. The border quarantine was the Federal governments doing and without that we would be no different to the US or UK with there ridiculous no quarantine policy other than a weak voluntary scheme. Just remember Dan Andrews and Morrison were the most closely aligned criticising mostly Queensland until of course Victorias contact tracing failed and Andrews went rather quiet on the issue and the other state in the duo New South Wales shut the border on them breaking their pact.

  6.  @benwilson6145  Well point by point, Trump claims he is a Christian and isn't, Morrison is a Christian, so what I am an atheist and couldn't care less. I guess next point relates to the cruise ship well it happened so what? What matters is it was corrected. If he said Rupert Murdoch is his friend again so what, Rupert Murdoch has supported both sides of politics over the years and although he does or used to at least choose people to run his media interests he generally have them free reign and believes the media should represent both sides, if you look at the various Murdoch press in Australia it depends on the publication, the Australian for example although I haven't read it for a while was very balanced actually. Sky News Australia is comparable to Fox News , sometimes not sure which is worse. Qanon thing don't know about that or why he would say that Qanon hates all Australian politicians of both parties and thinks Trump is a world saviour. This would be completely contradictory to Morrison's UN speech where he mentions misinformation being spread about covid 19 , an indirect rebuff to Donald Trump the biggest spreader of misinformation. As far as outbreaks inside of a state it is the State governments fault because they are required to run the response, in the end Australia has succeeded and the Federal government is a major part of that success along with all state leaders, regardless of political party. In the beginning Dan Andrews and Morrison were actually the closest together on the response actually with open borders policy etc. Thank goodness other states ignored those 2 along with NSW because otherwise we would likely look like other countries. Again it's not by political affiliation the federal government is bleeding cash big time so of course wants borders open because that will help, all states except NSW and NT backed down it would seem on the definition of hotspot, now real position seems to be 14 days no cases of community transmission or your state will have travel restrictions except hardline WA won't budge at all yet. The states are scared of ever getting into the Victorian situation so remain cautious and Dan Andrews according to opening plan is now a hardline state having dropped the open border policy. In the end the federal government did assist states even when disagree on policy and of course provided major assistance to Victoria when needed, Trump I hate to say didn't seem to care one bit unless it's a "red state". So Australian leaders are nothing like Trump, Trump is literally like Pauline Hanson , who is good for our democracy because all voices should be heard but should never be and can never be Prime Minister. Australia has offered a far more consistent stimulus and truth is it was too generous and needs to be wound back. The US doesn't have that funds are cut at the moment because Trump wants a $100,000,000 not specified for exact spending and Democrats don't want him having $100 Billion not assigned properly because Trump using executive power can just spend it however he wants with very wide parameters. This is nothing like the Australian situation.

  7.  @benwilson6145  Health is run by states , the federal government provides support only. I rarely watch Fox or Sky News Australia because they are nuts as I already said. Australia and US are very different countries and domestic policies can't really be compared because they are chalk and cheese other than free speech where our countries are comparable. The Democrats in the US totally disagree with Australia's response actually, not a single compulsory quarantine in place. The Democrats versus Republicans both want open borders without quarantine so always was going to fail and will continue to fail regardless of the outcome of the presidential election. Be pleased , we are still the lucky country and wish the best for the US which is in trouble. Without an effective vaccine the US will remain in this position for a long time. It is hopeful an effective vaccine comes but not certain. Totally agree that the Federal government shouldn't have got involved in Clive Palmer versus Western Australia. Our system works and personally I just voted for Labor in QLD state election because they have done extremely well on the health response and I don't want to change horse mid stream, I intend to vote LNP Federally when that comes around. For me the country comes above partisanship and a job well done is a job well done.

  8. Masks reduce risk , not eliminate it so still better if people wear them so long as still social distancing.
