@alejandropalazonurtubi3520 your comment is a little strange, you are implying countries like Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Thailand etc. have extremely good tests because positivity as low as 0.1% . So if you think a select group have good tests and your government is basically incompetent to the extreme get the evidence and tell the world. Which country are you referring to having useless tests?

Exactly and those are not necessarily life shortening events, if you live to 105 and die of a heart attack there is nothing we can do about it really but the same individual might get killed at 75 if they catch this virus and the death certificate may say heart failure caused by covid infection and the sceptics will say it was a heart attack nothing to do with the virus.

Because there is no one answer. The countries that have contained the virus are in a very different situation to the mitigation countries. I am in Australia in Queensland so successful containment jurisdiction. I notice the most common feedback in successful containment areas is we don't want the virus and if you break restrictions rules then lock you up, fine you whatever, a sympathy level of near 0 for someone that might cause further restrictions like we see everywhere else and by the way your actions could kill people. Those mitigation jurisdictions where it's acceptable that 0.05% of the population is dead and people keep dying the attitude is oh well if others die "it is what it is" let's open up business and forget about it or put masks on which only slow spread. It's too late for anywhere to have a change in position.

The reference to African people versus those in the US with similar genetic profiles is ridiculous. Most people of east Asian race to die from covid 19 are in the US and UK and other European countries. Funnily enough malaria isn't a problem in east asia and the government responses in east Asia are closer to government responses in Africa. Although age and underlying health does play a part the evidence so far indicates genetics only plays a minor role in whether you die from the virus if you get it. Culture and government responses and the effectiveness of the government responses are the only factors of significance along with living conditions ( more spread out the population like in rural settings the easier to control).
