@randommadness1021 Your comment reminds me of the aristocrats drinking out of lead mugs killing themselves while the poor couldn't afford those mugs. Your losing team might actually save some lives, everyone should be vaccinated by the time they move up the rankings.

The PAHO and European WHO regions were an experiment very early on, just let it spread because well off people need their freedom to travel without quarantine. Now unfortunately because those areas became breeding grounds for new variants countries like Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand and Japan have lost control and become a part of a new experiment of can these new highly contagious variants be stopped once hundreds of cases a day occur. If borders were closed to travellers or they quarantine worldwide when one region did that then it would probably be over by now. Less than 10% of the deaths per Capita in the Western Pacific region of WHO is clear evidence and without the new variants probably have a lot less cases than now and no cases in some countries I mentioned.
