I hope all goes well for you. Unfortunately it's likely you are in for a very hard lockdown to bring it under control. You are in the same position as Melbourne Victoria Australia 8 months ago which took 14 weeks of very hard lockdown to contain, possibly worse. You case numbers look much worse because this is the Indian variant it would appear , however on the positive side compliance in Taiwan I expect to be higher than it was in Melbourne at the time. I wish your country the best, just be prepared for what might be happening soon.

It will be up to the will of the people, no politician wants to commit political suicide, it's going to be really hard to convince any state outside of NSW and VIC to "live with it". I would bet you right now the moment a confirmed outbreak occurs from an already vaccinated person those state border restrictions will be put back on in hours, the PM can talk all he wants, states can change their minds at a moments notice. If vaccines are good enough to stop any serious outbreak all is good and well but we don't know that until it's actually put into action, data from US and UK is too unreliable because in relative terms they are still on fire by our standards.

@electronwave4551 It's really a matter of wait and see, vaccines don't have to completely stop spread but slow it down enough to be easily contained. Have to remember we are talking about 50,000 deaths if the vaccines end up literally not working as in a variant evades the lot, while I think very unlikely it's not impossible. From what they are saying or to quote Fauci evidence suggests that vaccinated people are very unlikely to spread the virus, I am very sceptical of this claim but if true next year after everyone who wants a vaccine has one opening borders won't be a problem because outbreaks theoretically will just die out quickly with only a few ever getting infected. The outcomes vary so much I wouldn't predict anything.

@electronwave4551 In Australia's case a closed border is better for the economy, we had an increased trade surplus last year and a component of that was keeping Australian in Australia. I think it might apply to NZ as well who also had an increased trade surplus. This is another reason no rush to open borders other than to foreign students who spend a lot because they stay a long time. The businesses that relied 100% on foreign tourists are already dead so don't have to worry about something that no longer exists.

Although frustrating, keep looking , you should get one soon, but might be more difficult for the time being because of shortened second dose.

He mentioned Thailand, that's South East Asia.

Probably because all over the news, anyone from Bolton is like a leppar , no one accepting visitors from there and who wants to go into a leppar colony if you don't have to. So a non governmental containment zone.

The people who don't take vaccines are antimasker so of course they ignore guidance. I think you will find some of the ones wearing masks are those who are already vaccinated but at some risk. Your CDC has basically said we offer no guidelines anymore , we pass all responsibility to others.
