Best of luck, I am sure you will enjoy your trip.

@rijamor 100,000 dead people and you consider that a success? What might failure look like in your opinion?

@katesmiles4208 you won't be catching it any time soon, the Australian border is only slightly less secure than North Korea and in Queenslands case any suspected infected person is hunted down like a criminal and quarantined. It might sound harsh to outsiders but 7 deaths out of 5,000,000 people it was and is worth it for now.

Well going down to your local crackhouse or whatever, I think you understand the concept. Not meant to offend just a joke.

The risk of serious illness is much lower so you should be fine, but if not don't wait too long to go to hospital.

@bostonlincolnshire8745 I do get the point and anecdotally when hospitals overflow or very close to that people seem to take measures without being forced to , I have seen this pattern in many jurisdictions. Under such circumstances the economy can't improve. A lockdown with contact tracing etc. to finish it more quickly has in every case I am aware of had superior results to what the situation would have been, including, economy, mental health, other health outcomes and much cheaper for the government. Why do so many people enjoy the virus because they have more freedom , that is freedom to travel internationally is beyond me. Most of the people complaining aren't traveling around the world or whatever but that's who's freedom everyone wants to protect.

@bostonlincolnshire8745 well you got your freedom you so desired. Obviously you weren't locked down, go tell someone in prison next time there is a lockdown you are free to leave if you don't like it. Many cancer patients etc. died from covid because their immune systems were low, the anti lockdown people as you are fully aware didn't care for them with their comorbidities and just said they would die anyway, as long as they get their international travel.

India is at about May or June last year relative to the US and UK, your figures mean nothing much until it's over. In theory India should have a much lower mortality rate overall because of demographics particularly lower population age and much lower obesity rates.

Well the restrictions they had in place we're essentially working fine for the old variants and they did have hotel quarantine for 7 days for entry which slowed any cases coming in much more than the US or UK with no meaningful quarantine and full of holes. So they weren't prepared for the new variants, also seems some bad advice may have played a part talking about herd immunity and superior immune systems of the population. Western countries are partly to blame for that, some healthcare people theorized basically any country that was doing better had people with immunity from other viruses, as in these are disease ridden countries so people have better immunity.

Ask before you get vaccinated, they will have a list of potential risk factors and advice regarding it.
