  14. So higher taxes for lower services? The US spends more on publically funded healthcare than Australia, probably a hell of a lot more now with covid 19 yet it's not a universal service.   15.  @3brainer  If the US could copy Australia's model , which I don't believe it could anytime soon you'll pay less tax. There's several reasons why you won't copy it because even if it's better half the US population don't want it no matter what, they are extremely influenced by fear campaigns for one thing. Healthcare most likely around 20% of US GDP is an extreme burden on your society and it has the lowest outcome at the highest cost of any wealthy country based on the key measure of life expectancy.

  32. It's a pity the Republicans in your state stopped even signatures being checked on postal votes until after the election concluded, this would have sped things up a bit. It's also unfortunate the USPS run by Trump couldn't guarantee timely delivery of mail, because it meant the court decided 3 days extension was reasonable under the circumstances. It's not likely those votes will be needed anyway for a Biden win which is a good thing because it will remove all doubt of any significant impropriety. Of course individuals from both parties will commit individual cases of fraud and that's unfortunate and impossible to stop, can only try to catch them if they do it.

  34. The reason for saying what the US/NATO is not doing is so that Russia can't run false propaganda so easily. One of the stated reasons for this war is basically have to attack first or NATO will attack. Unfortunately Russia does however have access to Tucker Carlson s show and runs his propaganda with honest translation and no editing.

  35.  @the_merc9918  There were protests in Australia estimated 70,000 people country wide and the totality of incidents was 2 people pepper sprayed in a train station by police for being idiots and someone put an Aboriginal Flag sticker on a police station. A second protest in Sydney was stopped by police because they were in lockdown and some leeway had been given on the first protest anyway. Like I said different countries it's completely different. I am unaware of any buildings being burnt down or shops looted or people killed in Canada. That's a US problem which also notably had the same problem on January 6 2021 from another violent mob. The US is a very violent for a wealthy country having 5 times the average homicide rate of other wealthy countries. Don't think other countries are the same because they aren't unless you want to compare to disfunctional low and middle income countries.

The 1% rate overall is probably about right, because the rate for people below 40 is way below that, probably about 0.05% but in the over 70s it may well be well over 1%. While I don't agree with crimson that 1,000,000 dead people in the is ok at least they are not denying reality. I am in Australia and we have had a different approach to the US and Europe.

  42.  mike a  look at some broad measures and compare let's say Mississippi ( sorry if you from there and no offense to anyone there) with Thailand. A middle income country I would describe it as, basic wage about $20 per day. Look at life expectancy, why is Mississippi behind a country like Thailand. Literacy rate behind, homicide rate higher. But you would be correct if you say Mississippi is much more democratic and much more free speech. There are about 10 states in the US not so different. So my claim exaggerated in a sense but not entirely incorrect.

  44.  @disf5178  in answer to your questions. Based on current or near current data you can test positive from about 2 days to 60 days after contracting the virus. You will only test positive (excluding false positives) if you are currently infected and it shows in nasal or oral fluids. The false negative rate is unknown to people like us, they would have a rough idea but no reason to tell people. You will not test positive unless currently infected or some dead virus remains in your nasal passage. I do believe it's possible to test with 99% accuracy for both currently infected or have had the infection, but it's completely impractical. The type of testing to achieve this would be blood testing done to the standard of trying to find trace dna at a crime scene. Very expensive and time consuming . The time consuming part means it's next to useless in this situation but for study maybe doing this is worth while. No amount of testing can demonstrate exposure, because as far as is known some people can resist every type of virus.
