Interesting , maybe Australia should become friends with the Taliban, then China would talk to us again but hang on a minute Australia is seen as an oppressive regime and the Taliban a peaceful organization, oh well. A strange world we live in.
11
Interesting perspectives in the comment section, most commenters seem to think wait until the body bags piling up and 10,000 cases a day and then lockdown which achieves very little because it's too late, if Australia had that policy we would have had 40,000 more deaths like all the other comparable countries and longer lockdowns too.
7
One thing I would like to know is how is the Taliban getting it's weapons and ammunition, making bombs can be done with regular materials but guns and ammunition aren't so easy.
6
I know, if I just watched this without any knowledge I would think 4 of Australia's large cities are overrun by mice getting into homes , hospitals and all food sellers premises. For the grain growing community of course it's terrible but for the rest of us we wouldn't know.
5
It's not entirely unlikely, the Taliban script seems to have been written by China because the Taliban rhetoric is remarkably similar to CPC rhetoric regarding having a one party inclusive state.

@m.sankararameswaran5239 no the cats kill snakes and goanna ( monitor lizards), and lots of small native animals. Maybe can have a plague of snakes next , better than cats anyway.
3
@jd_7906 So if a country has one of the best performances in the world they shouldn't compare to other countries, why is that?
2
I think you mean Chinese, if not your comment is ridiculous.
2
I think he doesn't, but not impossible he does. He runs all the conspiracy theories for the CPC. The best one is that the US has 200 secret bioweapons labs around the world. He's a spokesperson actually not the foreign minister. They have a few spokesperson, seems they play different roles, this one plays agressive conspiracy theorist.
2
The funniest one China has said is Australia bully China. I don't think they understand the concept otherwise they think many countries follow Australia. Whatever the case is , it's a bit amusing actually.
2
You never heard of cricket?
2
@atriacharya2967 Not really, think about it for a few seconds, if the UK was talking about Australia my country will just say our close ties. Historical acknowledges it's not perfect or that close. Sort of neutral to slightly friendly in a way.
2
It's a disaster zone and barely reached international news and according to numbers by worldometer the number is 0.56% of entire population dead. I suspect it's a bit of an overestimate now with some excess deaths due to heart conditions and diabetes dying due to covid 19 restrictions but regardless the cause that percentage of excess deaths is tragic.
1
I wish India the best of luck. The main problem is cramped living conditions of many making it really hard to stop the spread.
1
@StevenX-v1r One thing doesn't exclude the other. As an Australian I think it's a tragedy in both cases, some countries not having the political will to do what's needed and putting the rights of travellers above the overall population and the human rights issues in China are not good also. What you are arguing is 2 wrongs make a right and they don't.
1
I think the presenter is wrong in one respect, he is assuming that the virus is out of control, this is extremely unlikely, a grave situation is what 10 daily cases are in Queensland Australia with a population of 5 million. North Korea is known for being melodramatic, why would their language and actions not appear greater than a state of Australia? Well I would suggest that it's more than likely only a few cases, however other issues like food supply could be serious and we wouldn't know, noting they have cut off virtually everything coming in from China. North Korea or Australia for that matter are not Europe, the Americas or even India, the language used and actions taken seem extreme to the countries that let the virus get out of control.
1
Because they kill all the native wildlife
1
@Carl_Wheezy the comments in response to you are ridiculous, to kill a plague of mice you would need to have a plague of cats, to maintain a plague of cats you would need to be feeding them through the dry years.
1
Not really, democracy isn't perfect, it's as Winston Churchill said one of the worst possible forms of government but better than the rest.
1
@BreathingBlood666 The US isn't the only country referred to as a Wealthy Western Democracy and that's actually who you are referring to. Why ignore the entirety of Western Europe and Australia and New Zealand?
1
@BreathingBlood666 Ok so say USA because you don't even accept there are more than 2 countries on the planet China and USA.
1
@BreathingBlood666 you just said you don't include my country so no point responding. Do you feel ashamed of the Great Leap Forward which killed an estimated 10,000,000

The one that stands out for me is there will be no military bases in the South China Sea and then there was. Then what they do is play the race card, you can trust us we are Asian to ASEAN countries and don't trust any country that is majority European. It's has worked to some extent I believe with a minority of the population however no evidence it has worked against any of the affected countries governments. China has actually made an incredible own goal, it actually means the majority European countries are looking to countries outside of China for lower end manufacturing for at least some of the production which is ASEAN and South Asia region.
1
Actually we wiped out all rats and mice on Lord Howe Island and previously got rid of 99% of rabbits on the mainland using a virus. We also treat red fire ants a bit like covid 19, each time they get in we eradicate them from the country. There is a reason Australia could eliminate covid 19.
1
Built in 58, or at least the original buildings. I think you would find same all over the world.
1
@ppen8359 highly sceptical of what you say but it would be great if that occurs.
1
@jacqueslee2592 How so? China has a big trade deficit with Australia and one of their greavences was having some investments knocked back.
1
Vast majority were at home not at protests, don't judge by a small minority, Australia didn't do well for this long without widespread community cooperation.
1
We don't need more escalation at this point.
1
It's a minority.
1
It's a very small minority, have to remember Sydney has about 5 million people or so. So no these people have to be dealt with and this last weekend there was no repeat performance.
1
Why did you include Russia, not exactly a free country and sides with China all the time?
1
What did you put Singapore in that list for?
1
Borders open everywhere the entire time, Trump never shut a single border. So no funnily enough the US has never got to covid 0
1
@knightatdawndonbynight8432 While I am not a fan of China on many issues, there is no evidence that China's direct death toll from covid 19 is any more inaccurate than elsewhere. Of course in the beginning nowhere was highly accurate. They haven't as far as I know released the excess deaths caused indirectly by the lockdown, Chinese believe they are the exception to the rule , but it happened virtually every other country and China did a hard lockdown it would have certainly happened there.
1
40,000 people alive today that wouldn't have been is a pretty good outcome.
1
It's impossible to predict, can only guess what government behaviour and personal behaviour will be. When hospitals overflow everywhere cases seem to go down, happened in parts of US and UK for example, I think because people even if the government does nothing become much more careful. Cases in Delhi should come down about now but what about areas that think they are ok, they might increase.
1
@satriojumeneng7055 What a silly comment, the Quad was formed after the Tsunami regarding coordinating relief efforts. It's role has changed a little because of China's actions , so no the forming of the Quad had nothing to do with China.
1
Why is everyone blaming Tedros, he is only the leader of a democratic bureaucracy run by regional offices. Blame the countries including your own in your own region if your region has done poorly. If every region had followed the Western Pacific WHO region policies it would be over.
1
That's normal, especially with a member of the UN security council where untouchability is written into the agreement. Otherwise what is the UN supposed to do, invade and occupy a country, of course can't.
1
I hear the PM is in direct talks with the Wuhan and Fort Detrick labs to cook up a biological agent to take on our mice.
1
Australia and NZ should be ok but parts of the other countries you mentioned plus Myanmar and Philippines , China will say look it was a part of our colonial empire 1,000 years ago or whatever , so it belongs to China.
1
The reference is cultural genocide, not killing people. It's unfortunate China hasn't advised you of what the allegation is.
