Well $2 Trillion in cuts would be absolutely ruthless. If massive cuts to welfare handouts don't scare you they should.

@jerrymartin3965 Do you pay into your government pension scheme? The reason I ask is because your Social Security payout needs to be cut when you reach that age. It's currently operating as a pretend self funding thing when it's actually a government run Ponzi scheme that will run out of money in 2035 if nothing is changed according to their own actuaries. I hope you support cutting your own future income to be consistent assuming you are covered by the scheme. I have little knowledge of that scheme because the US is the only country to run a social welfare program like that.

Maybe because they suggesting things like eliminating the FBI. So not a defund the police policy but an eliminate the federal police policy.

More crime, more homelessness and riots on the streets. How does this excite you unless you are Russian or Chinese?

Your idea only goes into the 10s or optimistically low 100s of billions, nothing like the $2Trillion promised. Probably won't even cover the corporate tax cuts proposed.

It's not possible without cutting welfare and military budgets. Employees are only $350 billion or so. Even if you cut every single one of them it would only change from a really massive government deficit to a massive government deficit.

@TonyMasterson-b3z It's not quite that bad, no need to exaggerate an already bad situation. The last fiscal year deficit ending 30 September was around $1.8 Trillion . This is still an enormous amount of money, there's no real way of getting out of that without higher corporate taxation and effectively cutting handouts by increasing them at a slower rate than inflation. It's unlikely either political party in the US is willing to take those steps so the debt will continue to rise as a proportion of GDP until it causes a serious problem. The timeline of things going really bad is unpredictable because the USD as the major reserve currency of the world protects the US from what happens to most other countries if they reach your situation. Japan interestingly can survive with really high government debt. I don't know how they get away with it.

@questioneverything349 they are your federal police. They are the only ones to investigate federal crimes not covered by jurisdictions ICE or ATF. So no FBI means no federal crimes any more.
