  1. For certain goods yes but for certain goods the US and Canada are stuck with each other, especially steel, aluminium and oil ( due to current infrastructure). It's like Australia and China with iron ore, our trade in that product is around 85% of Australian export of that product and about 60% of China's import of that product. Of course over a 10 year period countries might be able to change such arrangements but it's not like finished goods or agricultural products where it's just a matter of changing a shipping destination.
