Probably some will fly over the US to Mexico.

I think you will probably be shipping things around or through the US to each other, a good example is fruits and vegetables which will now be cheaper to send from Mexico to Canada compared to the tariffed price of US fruits and vegetables. Trudeau did mention fruits and vegetable as part of the retaliation.

I wouldn't agree with that but Canada could get a free trade agreement with China. Australia has one.

Historically allies didn't exist countries or groups would continually go around trying to conquer each other to create an empire. That behaviour sort of ended after WWII with only a few exceptions.

Yeah and I think you would find certain fertiliser or other chemicals and compounds used in farming like trace elements will come from China. Farmers are going to love Trump this time. Last time they weren't hit with tariffs on their business, this time they will be.

@neutrino78x the state might be blue but the voters in agricultural areas regardless of state voted red.

It could be but knowing Trump it could also be another reason he hasn't told us yet.

@neutrino78x Well all agricultural areas are red areas so you shouldn't have any problems with retaliatory tariffs against agricultural products .

It doesn't affect the economy but it can over time affect who owns stuff, as in foreigners having more investments in the US than US investments in other countries. For most countries at the moment I think the US has more overseas investments than the other way around.

It's not possible, it would take a long time to source the goods from elsewhere. Some things It's easy like agricultural products. Some things It's very difficult like machinery especially parts for already owned machinery. In some cases it might be extremely difficult to integrate new machinery into an existing factory or whatever and use a different brand.
