@AG They probably are safe but need to do trials first because different age groups and sexes react differently. With the Astrazeneca vaccine for people below 60 there is higher risk and women below 40 highest risk of major side effects. Pfizer is apparently close to getting approval for 2 - 11 year olds and I know Moderna wants to do trial for that age group in the US and Australia. So looking like the MRNA will be fine for kids but J+J and AZ won't be so probably they won't even do trial.

Looking from afar the biggest fear munger is probably DeSantis , he is a true tyrant, he believes in control of private business, the exact opposite of a conservative. Imagine if you were a cruise ship owner and the government says by law you are not permitted to protect your crew and passengers because the dear leader doesn't allow. DeSantis peddles the fear that the other side will do what he has done to the cruise industry, that is government control and interference in private industry. The most amazing thing is nobody in the US seems to have blinked an eyelid at such behaviour which would be totally inline with something that might occur in Beijing.

@ezbody they are already doing it , apparently the spread of the virus is all down to in a relative sense a few foreigner crossing your Southern border, nothing to do with the unvaccinated or for that matter all the US citizens traveling around the world with no quarantine either which is totally ok. Apparently the virus must do a citizenship test before infecting someone. This is literally the logic people are arguing with and there's a direct link to comments by DeSantis and most likely others.

Actually the opposite regarding the pandemic response is my observation from afar, there are no Chiefs , the states blame the federal government while not taking charge. The thing is the general policy parameters of both political parties towards the pandemic response was identical pretty much , open borders and no quarantine, just let it spread and if hospitals overflow introduce restrictions and beg for money from the federal government. There is divergence now regarding vaccines however.

@Xander_Park I can't hear anything? Must be in your mind.

Florida seems to have an excellent hospital system for it's population, those case numbers being hospitalized would collapse the Australian healthcare system and our population 25 million versus 20 million for Florida. I am thinking it's so good in Florida to cater for all those wealthy retirees that live there. It seems as long as hospitals don't overflow DeSantis supporters don't see the problem.
