  2. Actually look at your skyrocketing public debt, your previously paid taxes don't currently cover the functions of government. More accurate to say borrow more money and hand out the cash. An alternate method might be to tax rich people and big companies a little more and direct welfare away from corporations towards social welfare like other wealthy countries do.
