In answer to your second question you certainly are , he is a complete tyrant who thinks he should control everything hence stopping private enterprise from having there own policies for example the Cruise industry which is in no way essential and the employer now has no right assuming the order is legal to protect crew or passengers and the costs involved with evacuation etc. of sick people.

@jima6545 if a politician makes an order controlling a business based on ideological reasons that is a tyrant. There is no reason or excuse to tell the cruise industry what to do regarding this matter.

@aburden8580 Your point Australia hasn't been perfect is legitimate however 45,000 people alive today that wouldn't be under the US model isn't a bad outcome. Not sure why you think Australia is going down the drain, life expectancy 5 years greater than the US and lower public healthcare costs. Based on last calendar year our government is doing far better than the US, 7% GDP government deficit versus 15%, economic decline 1.1% versus 2.7%. Anyway although we are a few months off being as vaccinated as the US indications are we will end up more vaccinated meaning a lower public healthcare burden. So in summary of course things aren't perfect , nowhere is perfect, but some countries are doing better than others and Australia is one of those countries in a better position.

@jima6545 Your comment about cruise lines affecting Florida's economy has nothing to do with anything I said, now you are saying government control as in DeSantis is better than the business owners making their own decisions. I put my money on business owners doing what's more profitable for them not what some politician directs them to do. It's interesting you see no issue in the command economy.

@aburden8580 A lot of rambling. I am not from Victoria or New South Wales, so not sure why you commenting on that and agreed not perfect , still , 45,000 less deaths is a good outcome. Not sure what your comment about US border has to do with anything the US has bipartisan open border policies without any quarantine whatsoever when it comes to mitigation of covid 19 and this policy along with others has resulted in 600,000 dead directly from covid 19 and increased deaths from other causes due to long periods of lockdown lite and higher homicide rates along with if you didn't notice those cities literally on fire due to the crazy BLM protests. You seem ok with all that and believe the US had the perfect response ok you keep your belief, I am happy with the response of my country in general and Queensland my state hasn't actually had any of those relatively minor issues you mentioned that occurred in other Australian states, they are relatively minor compared to the US situation. Queensland has had 7 covid 19 deaths for a population of 5 million, but to you that's a failure. The mental health status of Queenslanders would be relatively high I would suggest and that matters for the future.

@aburden8580 What makes you think I might be a surfer, I am not and it's winter, no reason for me to go to the beach, however I am in Brisbane so plenty of beaches to choose from within 1 and a half hours drive should I want to go. Your last statement says a lot though, you don't trust any of your government no matter which party , you trust no one because not even Republican politicians are denying the covid 19 statistics.

@jima6545 I am not from NSW , how does NSW policies affect me? They have made some mistakes and struggling, so what? I feel for people in NSW and it's unfortunate they took a more relaxed approach which is at least in part to blame. Just like the entire US is struggling now, everywhere there is partisan fighting and this isn't good which isn't a problem in Australia. The small minority who want to be like the US and have the virus out of control with all the deaths that come with it need to be dealt with.
