Even my country and China are not getting along as well as could be I am certainly on the side of the Chinese commenters. Most Australians think what the US and many European countries have done is terrible turning literally hundreds of cases from China into millions and with intent, no intention to stop any spread. Trump actually encouraged spread and to put it extremely politely he is a despicable man, happy to kill 400,000 citizens for a great stock market. The excess deaths are far greater than the Covid 19 deaths alone.

@bolnol5419 So places like China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand don't actually exist?

@Liitebulb The civil right to infect and kill another human shouldn't be a civil right.

@calvinsylveste8474 Your comment is the perfect ad for the 400,000 and counting excess deaths in the US, the largest peacetime killing this century not associated with a natural disaster. Maybe China's great leap forward could be considered in a similar light except the Chinese do acknowledge the failure and the US is yet to acknowledge the failure alongside many European countries.

@bolnol5419 research Melbourne lockdown, probably the most strict lockdown outside of China. I am not Victorian but it does demonstrate any type of people can achieve it if have the resources , eg. wealthy country. If a war was to break out tomorrow based on the Covid 19 response half the countries in the world would be surrendering within a week or 2 because it's all a bit hard. I don't believe that, it's just for some reason many nations didn't take the seriously. Everyone saw Wuhan and the bodies pilling up so it wasn't a surprise.

@bolnol5419 Covid is not still in these countries but does keep entering from the outside, restrictions worked perfectly, but it's impossible to never have quarantine breaches which have occured in 5 of those countries including 4 different Australian states. The breach in my states case was people lying to enter the state claiming that they were never in an infected area in the previous 14 days when they were. Those girls probably get some prison time for that and nobody will shed a tear. Covid 19 free means get to 0 locally transmitted cases and can do again if required.

@bolnol5419 If you believe China is as authoritarian as the other countries mentioned then of course. The have about the same numbers of imported cases as Australia and have had a few outbreaks ( most likely quarantine just like Australia or NZ but they don't seem too forthcoming on that ). Virus free country have too much to lose and all populations of such jurisdictions are highly compliant, of course have 1% who will never be compliant so enforcement is needed. Taiwan has had about 10% of the imported cases that Australia has had despite approximately the same population, they don't travel so much. So if next week Taiwan had an outbreak it wouldn't surprise me , it's just a game of probability when quarantine might fail noting of course there are varying standards even amongst countries with a good record.

@bolnol5419 We all do quarantine everyone entering at the border, my state Queensland the rule is 14 days in hotel quarantine that's with I guess the military guarding the hotel which is the standard but could be police assuming that has remained as those carrying out the task. Two tests on days 3 and 10 and if you refuse testing add 10 days to quarantine at your cost. If an outbreak occurs from an unknown source everyone 2 steps removed from the known case is put into quarantine. So if you are the known case and you had a beer at the pub with 3 mates and those 3 mates had met another 20 people over the last week or so there will be 24 people in self isolation or quarantine at home or at another location if that's more suitable , that's just from one social gathering, maybe you are a social butterfly and had 10 such gatherings in the time you were likely infectious. You being the positive case would probably be offered the choice of doing quarantine in a hospital. It's all good old fashioned draconian measures, no way around it. Your local area would have some sort of lockdown and everyone with any symptoms at all encouraged to be tested. I don't know where you are from but I think you are getting the picture that things are quite different.

@bolnol5419 I agree with your last comment but it's the only way, rare isn't good enough, maybe can be with vaccine, have to see which containment country allows entry for vaccinated people without quarantine first, I am guessing we will all be hesitant because whoever goes first is the Guinea Pig.

@bolnol5419 0 cases and less than 0.01% of the population dead versus killing 0.1% of the population and going into yet another lockdown lite ( quarantine of everyone but not proper quarantine) isn't rare enough.

@bolnol5419 if you want to ignore Australia and New Zealand look at China then , 3rd quarter year on year economic growth. No evidence that a bar in Melbourne is faring any worse or better than one in New York or Los Angeles or for that matter Stockholm. The bar in Melbourne now is open with a high degree of certainty those others aren't which as you correctly say leads to mental health issues.

@user-ji6mn3no1j What is sickening is the largest peacetime killing done with intent this century against citizens of their own countries.

@ringoinah the real question is why maybe 5,000 cases let out of China became 50,000,000. China doesn't control your borders, your countries actions and allowing the virus to spread rampantly. Given your comment I guess your country did far more to spread the virus than China ever did. It is true China's initial response wasn't perfect so how does that relate to your country completely failing on the matter and deliberately spreading the virus?
