Looks a bit like peaceful protests when they occur in the US.

And those countries willing to kill their citizens and not contain the virus in favour of the almighty dollar have got neither the safety or the dollars. So totally agree all those purchasing a little temporary safety will achieve nothing, previous generations fought in world wars, now getting an injection is considered worse than sending a son or father to die, it's certainly messed up thinking.

Should skip straight to Brisbane Australia , we have act together and Paris and Los Angeles don't at this point in time.

All these comments , I wonder if an elderly relative or friend died because a healthcare worker infected them whether you would be so supportive of the right to chose at government expense, because you would also have to pay as a taxpayer for the hospital bed that person dies in. I can understand some arguments at the edges but healthcare workers must get vaccinated or sack them. Also anyone hospitalized who wasn't vaccinated should pay is a possible middle ground, if people agree with that then for me it's probably ok. A business should also have the right to protect it's customer and require that only vaccinated people enter if they want, businesses have rights too but implementing a voluntary scheme may be impractical.

@JohSentenza I am aware of what you say and the science does say it dramatically reduces the chance of being infected but doesn't bring it anywhere near 0. So cutting the possibility by 60% in a standalone situation as evidence suggests is significant and worth it, if everyone in a hospital or nursing home is vaccinated then the effects will be greater than 60% because it compounds reducing the spread between each other. Nobody vaccinated basically the Delta variant will infect 100% of people in a fairly short time. It's like all measures in society, a seat belt in a car might reduce your chance of death by 50% but then add in the crush zone of a car and airbags and it goes up to 90%, can never reach 100% it's impossible and unless the virus is eliminated vaccines plus other measures also can never reach 100%.

@JohSentenza I do agree that as many different types of vaccines should be available , the Astrazeneca one would be available in France I believe which is the same as Sputnik regarding the platform of using a live adenovirus that's been manipulated. It would be good to have the Chinese ones available which although a bit less effective they are also lowest risk of side effects because they are just dead virus which is the oldest and simplest technology. The Astrazeneca is only recommended for above 55 year olds in France it seems so that's an issue. In Australia the position is with Astrazeneca recommended for above 60 and below 60 someone can choose to have Astrazeneca which is more readily available than Pfizer which is the other vaccine that is being relied upon currently.

@JohSentenza just quick internet search regarding Frances current position on Astrazeneca. Anyway I guess every country will muddle along on whatever path, things still have a long way to go and the unknown new variants could change everything as Delta variant has in Western Pacific and South East Asia WHO regions. Without that new variant which is far worse than the Alpha variant countries like India, Vietnam, Thailand , Indonesia and New South Wales Australia in my own country etc. wouldn't have anywhere near the current problems. Can consider the Delta variant a whole new virus compared to the original Wuhan variant. Best of luck wherever you are.

Sydney is the new Melbourne in Australia, they'll be cut off from the rest of the country until they get their act together and do what it takes to eliminate the virus again.

Get rid of the virus and you get freedom back. Protest and spread the virus Sydney will be like Melbourne before, for a long time.

Well at the extreme level you could be refused entry to a hospital and die on the footpath because hospital resources been used up already. This has already occurred in many countries including developed wealthy ones, if really low vaccination rates it can occur again, also are you personally willing to pay another 5% tax to cover these costs to protect people's freedoms?
