@voodoo_child5897 It's true the regional discussion or whatever at the WHO regional office was up to each country however all countries followed, Singapore started with the same model as Sweden and changed to be like the rest of us in the region, very successfully until recently and I think Singapore will get the current outbreak under control. It's not all one sided, many large but low income countries like Brazil could have done things but didn't, very small low income countries are at the mercy of others completely. Interestingly many small high income countries like yours have been very quick to vaccinate and I think partly because a few million doses doesn't get noticed so much.

Mostly blame your WHO region and or country. If you look at India as an example the death toll is currently at about 15% of Europe and the Americas on a per capita basis. India is a part of the South East Asia WHO region which decided on a mixed quarantine model for travel as in a short time in hotel quarantine and then some voluntary quarantine. The European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region had only 10 days voluntary quarantine. The Western Pacific region of WHO had 14 days mandatory enforced quarantine usually all in a hotel. Guess which region is looking better.
