Thanks for kicking Taiwan , Australia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and New Zealand out of the free world, we might not be the richest or most sophisticated countries in the world but we seem to have community spirit and sensible governments that's lacking in countries where selfishness (AKA rugged individualism) is seen as a good thing apparently.

  3.  @gore1089  what on earth are you talking about NZ has had quarantine breaches also, it's impossible to eliminate the risk entirely. When vaccines are available the hotel quarantine workers are on top of the list with the very old and medical workers , however this still won't eliminate risk because the vaccines aren't 100% but should dramatically reduce it. Another point is the states run the quarantine hotels , both political parties , not the federal government.

  4. They know the risk of it and don't warn the public that it might be better to get rid of covid 19 with lockdown on top of the vaccines. It's a pity because if it happens the virus rampant countries are at day 1 again.

Western Pacific thanks, it's better to argue as a region because it's more difficult to make excuses of why they are so different based on government type, land type, interconnectivity with other countries etc. truth is none of that has shown to be a barrier, Sicily, Malta, the island of Ireland, Hawaii , Puerto Rico, although they might not be the worst jurisdictions in the world they have certainly demonstrated that being an island is no barrier to poor policy which gives similar results even with low populations to the larger more connected countries, in fact there is only one correlation that can be observed those that tried even if they failed to contain the virus have done way better than those countries that kept travel open with only voluntary quarantine.

The rampant virus countries which will be so for about another 8 months or so until something like herd immunity better hope the crossed fingers approach works on the continually changing strains and they don't evade vaccines otherwise guess what the rampant virus countries are back to day 1 and counting, the virus free countries can although inconvenient continue as is.
