  1. #askDerrick this is a political question, it seems that the Western Pacific countries from China to New Zealand and the 20 or so countries in between including Pacific Island nations would prefer an elimination strategy which is what our region has tried to do with some success, most of Europe and the Americas have a policy of keeping borders open and just use mass vaccinations and hope the virus goes away without any full lockdown and voluntary non pharmaceutical measures such as voluntary self isolation with no enforcement for entry versus government supervised hotel quarantine or GPS ankle bracelet in Western Pacific countries. So my question after the ridiculously long sentence is which strategy is gaining majority support in the WHO because obviously the Western Pacific countries and visa versa will be stuck with the majority decision?
