I wonder what the plan is because 50,000 cases aren't exactly easy to manage assuming the other half of the population has a 1% infection rate.

@LednacekZ My point about them is not that they would all have to go to hospital but having that many currently infected it's extremely difficult to stop any of them spreading it. The most common way is many of the infected will live with others so those households need to quarantine also to have a major impact. Enforcement would be really difficult because numbers large. Once numbers are large everything becomes really difficult.

@fritzhaber3994 Sounds like it's planned but I will say from looking at Melbourne Victoria Australia ( I am in a different state) it will be harder than they expect if they want to go for elimination which by the initial and drastic actions seems likely. The nay sayers saying that Slovakia can't go virus free are wrong because trade can still occur with strict precautions should they reach that stage, just need enforced quarantine for anyone coming into the country to stay. I wish the country the best of luck.

@janeinkaob I think Slovakia might succeed in its ambitious plan because seems very serious and a lot invested in many ways. In Western Pacific countries it's a strict 14 day quarantine for entry , I think in every country still, it will be interesting to see how the shorter time period and having test results approach works. Pretty sure none of us will change unless it's proven elsewhere because if it ain't broke don't fix it.

@fritzhaber3994 the thing is the virus only spreads in 2 different ways and both are rapid, R0 of less than 1 it dies out in a relative sense quickly or R0 of more than 1 which is exponential growth. Slovakia did well in keeping it out from the beginning but got too relaxed. Politicians don't like to say going for elimination because it's difficult, only one I know who spoke like that was New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Adern, maybe some Asian country speak like that too, I am unsure. They know without an effective vaccine 3 choices open then lockdown and open and lockdowns ongoing or do what it takes to get the virus under control which will lead to 0 cases events or low restrictions whereby the hospitals don't overflow but 2,500 people need to die most likely like Sweden with a population adjustment. Cases and deaths graph is exactly the same as Victoria Australia but out by a couple of months and 5 times as serious now approximately with 1% infected versus probably 0.2% infected at Victoria's peak. This doesn't mean Slovakia can't make a comeback , only that it's going to be real tough.
