You take care, we are still lucky with modern medicine etc. In 1918 the life expectancy was only about 40 and no antibiotics so most died of flu plus bacterial pneumonia back in the dark old days of the Spanish Flu.

@bryandunn7953 history will show countries that locked down properly and eliminated the virus will have had the best outcomes. Everything open in Australia and New Zealand and evidence is the youth are doing better than in virus ridden countries.

@bryandunn7953 I can add other countries to the list of can't be worse off such as China and Vietnam and Thailand (? Current political unrest but not really related to covid 19). The reason for this is it's impossible to now end up in as bad a situation as countries where the virus is rampant and all outcomes are worse on the health front because the mental health effects are greater and of course economic flow on effects which are part mental health. The reason the virus free countries will never allow the virus to get out of control now is because they are battle hardened so to speak and nobody will object to any localised lockdown the moment an outbreak is identified, in fact it's political suicide not to act even in the one party countries because if the outbreak spreads even a little bit you will be blamed. China has actually expanded it's economy year on year in the last quarter. As far as what other countries should do now outside of those with few cases which should go for elimination I don't have a strong opinion other than when the vaccine is widely available a 6 week lockdown maybe and get rid of the virus, the mental health gains by having no virus are significant, both the do nothing and lockdown people in US or UK both believe things will fail , they are defeated and while this view persists it's bad for mental health and over time let's be blunt if the virus mutates so that most vaccines don't work it's back to almost square one for those countries that never gained control. Certainty is what helps mental health more than any other thing.

If you do that you will come to the conclusion agressive suppression or elimination (academic argument in Australia of what to call it) will bring superior results on all fronts. This doesn't mean however empirical results will be the same across all countries due to level of and effectiveness of socialism , including the economic stimulus ( socialist money injection) that every country that has the means has done.
