International interventions never work, it needs for the majority in the country to agree and as suggested in the report maybe not all military and police support this, depending how many are in that camp. Soft international pressure helps in this regard. ASEAN has a policy of not interfering in any countries internal issues so unless that was to change they won't do anything, not even speak against it. Individual countries within ASEAN might but I am not going to hold my breath, 2 ASEAN members are communist and one with a military government, they certainly can't say anything.

  2. That idea would only hurt the poor, not a good idea. Selective actions maybe by the civilian members of the government workforce might work.

  3. Hopefully if sanctions is just things like the military leaders foreign assets frozen and can't travel. Sanctions to hurt the country always fail and just hurt the poor cementing any dictatorship.
