@lohphat in 1918 they actually mostly died of bacterial pneumonia, we have antibiotics for that now so unless we have a concurrent bacteria outbreak that evades antibiotics it can't happen again in the same way at least.

@MedicalMinutes6334 it's much worse this time in India because of variants, if you look at UK data around about November and December the "UK variant" was increasing during lockdown and all other variants were decreasing, so the lockdown worked on old versions of the virus only and only slowed the rate of increase of the new variant at the time. India has the UK variant and a local variant which might be even more transmissible. It's probably only a matter of time that it spreads throughout India and neighbouring countries, take care of yourself and family.

@MedicalMinutes6334 I hope what you say happens but I am not optimistic. The only slight positive I see is that demographics should make people less susceptible than say a country like the US in proportional terms. Younger overall population and a lot less overweight people should mean the infection fatality rate is much lower, but it's not a certainty.
