  1. China's belt and road initiative has been given a boost by Trump. Trump is only fighting against China on trade directly affecting the US.

  2. In Australia most states closed their borders and traveller from one state requires 2 weeks of government supervised hotel quarantine paid by the traveller to enter my state currently. Both political parties in the US have basically said they won't do it. Australia internally is largely open now. Being an island has nothing to do with anything, the US with a 1,000,000 strong military can control their borders if they want to.

  4. I agree with you but the US is headed for worse numbers excluding the effects of improved treatment and a possible vaccine. You need to compare obesity rates to look at possible outcomes so I think the US mortality rate will eventually pass that of Sweden for example.

  6. Constitutional changes could change everything. The US Constitution elects a King/Queen who chooses unelected officials secretaries of portfolios, equivalent of ministers in other countries who are elected. The electoral college for electing a president was being discussed as a problem 200 years ago under President Jackson I think it was. The separation of powers between state and Federal in the US are not clearly defined unlike in Australia creating duplication and unfairness. So what I am saying is the technical capability is certainly there but the constitutional framework is outdated. In 1776 it was a top of the range constitution. A bit like a top of the range computer bought in 1980 versus the cheapest smart phone on the market today.
