@wleng Thanks I will

@dabestest1387 being extra cautious, AZ vaccine which is being manufactured in Australia only for 60+ age group now and having few cases increases vaccine hesitancy, also if you are successful you get put lower on the queue for imported vaccines.

@tarunmathew88 Island has nothing to do with it, yes a controlled border just Like China or Vietnam which aren't islands.

But you guys sent some infected person to Victoria, I'd be a little more humble if I was you, I am not Victorian but feel for them that last time.

I am not fussed about which vaccine but it seems a hassle to get the AZ because I am 47.

Best of luck to you and your country.

@shivanipal4379 the AZ vaccines are being supplied for free as a part of Covax I think, don't be so negative , whichever ones it is Covax will supply 20,000,000 doses to Indonesia at least, mostly funded by those hypocritical westerners as you call us. That number doesn't solve everything but each bit helps.

@shivanipal4379 AZ in Australia is for over 60s and if every country followed this policy then AZ is still very useful , not all 60 plus age group in the world has been vaccinated and they are by far highest risk, nobody really has given to Covax any great numbers at this point in time only 89 million doses. Indonesia has received a bit over 1 million AZ under the scheme so far. So it might be a blessing in disguise if poorer countries follow the evidence because it means AZ doses more quickly but some poorer nations are being just as fussy as some wealthy nations who don't want AZ vaccine at all, that's their own fault.

@shivanipal4379 what's that supposed to mean "your people" we are not all clones or something and many under 60s are actually requesting the AZ vaccine, I will be one of them when I get around to it, the risk of dying for below 60s is about 1 in a million it would seem based on Australian and UK data, much Risker is the trip to and from where getting vaccinated most likely. So you can't lump everyone together, you have extreme bias. I guess you referring to Australia being entitled to Covax , so what, they will all be donated to Oceania and ASEAN countries when it comes down to it, yes the government has 150,000,000 doses on order I think it is obviously our adult population being about 20 million most will be donated I would expect. No idea if we will vaccinate below 16s some time in the future which would change the numbers a little.

@sueschoers4974 Sue you are wrong actually, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were on step ahead of others , all over 18 now qualify whereas in the general population it's over 40 and due to location and being a point indigenous peoples from both PNG and Aus can cross the border freely you might find the Torres Strait has the highest vaccination rate in the country.

Don't know but see my comment above.

Thanks

I think the 2 highest rates are actually China and India in our wider region.

@dabestest1387 My understanding is the supply of Pfizer is slow but to be honest I don't know the numbers. We have plenty on order now , I know that along with some Moderna. We are also donating some of the AZ already to surrounding smaller nations. The government says they should be able to vaccinate every adult who wants a vaccine by the end of the year, I am sceptical however , especially if a couple of people die from the Pfizer shot which isn't impossible.

It's more difficult to contain in Indonesia because of socio economic reasons. There's no conspiracy.

@tarunmathew88 500,000 people I think it's up to now going through hotel quarantine is not a small number, it's 2% of the entire population. There is only the Western Pacific WHO region doing it , the rest decided on open borders or shorter quarantine times, China has now moved to 21 days because it's having problems too.
1
Nah it's according to WHO region what the general policy was and how effective on an individual country basis, Australia is in Western Pacific WHO region which has 14 days mandatory enforced usually hotel quarantine and has its highest cases in the Philippines which has a bit over 200 deaths per million. The European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region had open borders and voluntary quarantine, high case countries over 2,000 deaths per million, it's as simple as that, policy.

It will and the government's involved will do what's needed.
