That would mean a million dead, pretty big call, so far very few people killed if any.

@collinvelox5924 if the UN went in militarily will have 1,000,000 dead people and you think this is a good idea? No doubt like usual the majority of the dead will be civilians. It certainly hasn't reached that stage. If invaded the military will fight like they have nothing to lose if they believe that they will be treated badly. Maybe they just put down there weapons, I see the chance of that as close to 0.

@jamber782 China doesn't control the UN however for a security council resolution to pass needs all 5 permanent members to agree, that's USA, China, Russia, France and UK. Normally it's the first 3 that veto stuff.

@galaxydust7267 I understand your emotion however as stated in my previous comment it's the 5 permanent security council members who decide that. Unfortunately military interventions rarely end well and it's not time yet. Diplomacy will hopefully achieve some results and I am sure the threat of force if civilians are killed has been made. I wish the best for Myanmar and hope it doesn't come to worst case which is peacekeepers fighting a war inside Myanmar and your comment sort of agrees with this by saying"do anything to stay in power".

@galaxydust7267 well just to check I looked up about real peacekeeping by UN and it requires the parties to consent or in other words both the military government and protestors of Myanmar want them there, I don't think this is the case. Such a deal might be worked out with international pressure but we aren't there yet.

@collinvelox5924 it's interesting who you think leading the decision making, this is Asia so going to be other Asian countries plus Australasia ( more specifically Australia and New Zealand) . Behind closed doors they are most likely begging them to resolve the issue pointing out the economic harm to Myanmar and themselves personally because all investment and a lot of trade will dry up quickly. Of course EU and US and China considering it's multiple and probably conflicting interests will follow. The Biden administration has sort of said what I just said talking about working with partners in the region. The cooperation of US and China is critical, in the end they much more powerful than the rest of us.

@collinvelox5924 Why some people do what they do, I can't personally understand why, only can see what they do. Donald Trump did exactly the same thing but enough people eventually said no, he got pretty close to success actually. So I understand what Trump did but not the entire motivation other than greed for power.

Brutal retaliation, yep that always works.
