Well received is a relative term, in Australia it means yeah whatever piss off, In the US it's we are going on peaceful protests and promise not to kill anyone or burn buildings or vehicles, in the UK it's, are you gonna shut the pub?

Unless a country has an insecure border then they are an island because the virus can't cross the border without a host. Trade has nothing to do with anything and if it did then the US and many European countries should perform better than Australia. It might come as a surprise to you that interstate trade does occur in Australia. If you look at Malta it's performed at about the same standard when considering deaths per capita to Victoria Australia and only less than 500,000 people versus 6,500,000, Norway on the other hand to date has done better. It's up to a country or state what it decides to do and if they are a wealthy country then the capacity to contain the virus is the same, obviously if you have a large population you can hire more contact tracers. As far as road transportation you quarantine the truck drivers so they never come into contact with the local population other than say a defined quarantine fuel station for example. A country has to do what it has to do. Closing state borders in Australia was not easy but had it not occured I believe we would be in a different position.

I am Australian and having an identity crisis because we are culturally Asian and Western. It's interesting because seems to depend on which value. Not all of Europe is the same too or Canada versus US. So summing up I think no large grouping can be painted with a broad brush.

I am from Australia we deserve reparations from Europe and the US, for infecting many of our citizens and the costs to quarantine them in hotels. China only sent a few, the breeding grounds of the virus were elsewhere.

@hamishmclaughlin9238 They are doing the same, some of the exact same measures but possibly not comprehensive and the 4 or 5 days warning is madness, I know in Queensland and I think also many other states including Victoria a little less than 24 hours warning when restrictions were changing quickly. It's unfortunately given a window for mass spreading. Slovakia and possibly Wales and Ireland are starting to look serious and possibly go for elimination or close to but the countries shown seem to trying to please people with a warning, the virus is very appreciative I think. I do wish them all the best but it seems a competition between many European countries and US states along with the rest of the Americas who can outdo each other in an unfortunate way.

@feh7854 Let's say all the vaccines are virtually useless and only 20% effective, if our population took that then we would be in the same position as a place like New York. Everywhere is hoping for a vaccine and actually no country has said what happens if no effective vaccine.

@feh7854 Don't know what's going to happen but I would expect if you travel international then you will need to do 2 weeks hotel quarantine at your cost after a vaccine is available and vaccinated people don't need to quarantine in a country like mine. I have probably already had covid 19 so a vaccine isn't going to hurt me or at least that's what I think.
