Western Pacific WHO region countries, less than 10% per Capita deaths of PAHO Pan-American Health Organization and European WHO regions. So actually many countries didn't fail, this doesn't mean 0 deaths and no problems of course.

@Pronto the entire WHO health region you are referring to, Western Pacific WHO region.

@DavidHembrow Obviously you haven't heard of Queensland Australia, same population as NZ and 7 deaths to date and a land border that those Mexicans keep wanting to cross ( Mexican is nickname for New South Welshmen and Victorian's because they keep migrating north to gods country Queensland). New Zealand, Western Australia and Queensland are actually very comparable and very similar policies and results, vaccination rates a bit lower though mostly because of lack of urgency I think.

@DavidHembrow Until Delta not a single Western Pacific WHO region country completely lost control, Japan and Philippines were the ones that struggled them most but deaths still below 10% of the European average. Fiji in deaths per million has as of know had the worst performance because when Delta got in it spread really fast, they have managed to get the vaccination rate up fairly high now so they should be ok as anywhere. Containment policy of our region with 14 days mandatory enforced usually hotel quarantine has worked, the results are overwhelming. I hope but am sceptical that this policy is adopted worldwide in the future because the performance other than being able to produce vaccines by European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region has been comparatively bad and we wouldn't even have had Delta most likely if containment was a worldwide policy. That's my thoughts anyway.

It's all relative, in deaths per Capita they the second worst in the Western Pacific WHO region behind Fiji.

That wasn't the problem, the problem was throughout European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region open borders and no quarantine, in other words they refused to change course , look at Western Pacific WHO region countries and less than 10% of the per Capita deaths.

@robharris8844U You do realize that Australia is more urbanised than the US and UK right? Funny thing is we aren't spread out evenly accross our continent , greater Melbourne has a higher population than Republic of Ireland which has a fairly low urbanization rate. The funny thing is no quarantine and open borders all in general terms produced the same results. Look at Western Pacific WHO region which is a very diverse group of countries from China to Philippines to Japan to Papua New Guinea to Australia and others we have different government systems and possibly the most diverse culture of any WHO region however we all had a policy of containment with 14 days mandatory enforced usually hotel quarantine for all arrivals, in the case of Australia and China these restrictions applied internally also, right now today you can't enter Queensland from New South Wales or Victoria without an exemption or 14 days mandatory enforced hotel quarantine. Exemptions are primarily for essential services and border region bubble. Never did England, Wales and Scotland do this for any length of time and still had voluntary quarantine or in other words not quarantine.

Equal worst goes to European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region.

@TheOnlyCathyCat Deaths per million in Australia less than 10% of the average for those other regions. Doing well doesn't mean perfect, nowhere is perfect because that's impossible.
