Unfortunately for some they don't grow old, car accidents in wealthy countries is a big one.

Seniors and young children if school isn't open parents will naturally shield even if risk is fairly low.

If it's been over a week and you are not very sick yet I would think highly unlikely.

@collan580 Killing the host only matters over time, when 99% of a population is killed off. Myxamatosis for example killed off 99% of the European rabbits in Australia at one point in time, the virus is native to the Americas and the American rabbits aren't so affected. One can only argue killing off the host in humans will reduce spread because humans might either become highly symptomatic early on or take it more seriously and go for elimination world wide rather than only a few countries pursuing this strategy without vaccines.

If your last paragraph was followed it would have let's say rather interesting outcomes. The Western Pacific region of WHO Which is from China down to New Zealand where such a policy as you suggest exists and the worst performing country the Philippines has less than 10% of the death toll on a per capita basis compared to US and many European countries. At least China would be taking trade sanctions off Australia I suppose but not sure such a new grouping applying sanctions to European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region , the countries with open border policies would go down so good.

@asmirann3636 India literally believed (not everyone of course) that either Indians had superior genetics (could see the UK variant going crazy in Europe at the very same time you say preparations actually reducing) or completely ignorant and didn't even look outside India or thought the lower overall age and obesity rates of the Indian population compared to Europe and US meant India was safe. I don't know what the prevalent thinking was but it can really only be the 3 things I mentioned above because it would have been well known the border isn't sealed properly to stop new variants entering.
